The Nearly Squished Ducking

Once upon a time ... A long, long, long, long, long, long, long, time ago ... There was a little duckling called ..... Squidge.

Now, Squidge was the youngest duckling and had 4 older brothers, Harry, Barry, Larry and Bob.

One day, their mommy wanted to take them to visit their friends house, who they hadn't seen for a very long time because they lived on another pond on the other side of a very busy road. They swam to the bank, climbed out, waddled up the hill and stopped at the edge of the road.

'Right then' mommy duck said 'because this road is so busy I'm going to go first and show you all how to cross safely.'

She looked right ... Then she looked left ... Then right.... Then left ... Then right again and only when she was sure that nothing was coming, she started to cross the road. As she waddled across, she kept on looking right, then left, then right, then left, then right, left, right, left, right left right left until she got all the way to the other side.

She shouted back for the next to cross. Now Bob, being the eldest, said that the triplets should go next and he would go last so that he could make sure that everyone was safe. So Harry, Barry and Larry all walked up to the edge of the road.  They looked both ways, right, right, right, left, left, left, right, right, right, left, left, left then started to cross. As they went, they carried on looking right, right, right, left, left, left, right right right left left left until they got all the way across.

Squidge was so excited that it was his turn that he ran straight up to the road and without even looking started to run straight across. 'STOP!' everyone shouted as he reached half way and a big, red truck came whizzing past, just missing Squidge with its wheels. Squidge was so scared that he went to turn and run back just as a shiny blue car came the other way. He turned again and went for it. He was nearly across when a big loud motorbike came past and stopped Squidge in his tracks. Just as he was about to go again, Bob shouted 'DUCK! QUACK!' as another truck came racing down the road. Squidge dropped to the floor and made himself as small as he could as the truck went right over the top of him.

As it flew off in the distance, Squidge had one last go for it. He ran and he ran until he finally made it to the other side of the road. Just then, mommy duck came running over to him and gave him such a telling off as Bob crossed the road safely and joined them. They both told him how lucky he was to have not been squished on the road and to never ever cross without looking again.

Squidge was so upset that he started to cry. 'I'm sorry,' he said between tears 'I promise I won't ever run across the road again.' Then they all carried on to their friends house.

After a lovely day, it was time to go home to their own pond. They got to the road again and this time all crossed together all looking right and left and right and left as they went.

And they all lived happily ever after .....

The End.

Squeeze's New Shoes

Once upon a time .... a long, long, long, long, long, long, long time ago ... there was a young, little panda named ..... Squeeze. Now Squeeze was no ordinary panda, she was the brightest little panda in her class.  She was kind and gentle and was always the first up to help others.  She really was wonderful in every way. One day, Squeeze came home from school after having such an amazing day playing and learning that she was absolutely pooped!  She sat in her little panda chair, kicked off her shoes and sighed.  'I'm sooooo tired' she said, 'what's for tea?' Mommy Panda was in the kitchen and didn't hear Squeeze's question.  'WHAT'S FOR TEA?' Squeeze shouted at the top of her voice.  That wasn't like Squeeze at all.  'What's all this noise?' Daddy Panda said as he came down the stairs, 'it's not nice to shout.  If you have a question for someone, you have to go and ask nicely.' 'Sorry, I'm just r...
